Council Recognizes Downtown Success

Downtown Rocky Mount has been recognized by Main Street America as an accredited National Main Street Program for the second year in a row. The award recognizes the efforts put forward by the thirteen Council appointed members of the Central City Revitalization Panel (CCRP) and the following members of staff:

JoSeth Bocook, Planning and Historic Liaison; Kellianne Davis, Community Development; Bev Harrelson, Public Affairs; Tierra Norwood, Downtown Development; Mark Rogerson, RMFD

In 1982, Rocky Mount became one of the original cities in the country to establish a Main Street Program. This award recognizes Downtown Rocky Mount for putting forward the comprehensive and sustainable revitalization efforts of creating economic development thru historic preservation.

Rocky Mount’s very own Stepheny Houghtlin has been recognized as a NC Main Street Champion. This designation honors those persons who have made extraordinary contributions to their downtowns.
