The Community and Business Development Department is offering a roof replacement and repair grant for properties located within the boundaries of Franklin St., Goldleaf St., Atlantic Ave. and Raleigh Blvd.
The roof grant is available for property owners on a 50/50 reimbursement basis, up to a maximum of $10,000. The grant requires that all roofing repairs be completed and the roof past inspection prior to reimbursement.
The focus of the program is to encourage the renovation and development of properties for commercial use. Funding is limited; therefore, requests for severely damaged roofs, as well as those in conjunction with complete building renovation will be prioritized.
Upon satisfactory completion of all work required (including proper debris removal), city inspection staff will inspect the work and approve final payment. If the inspection is not satisfactory, the applicant/contractor will be notified in writing to correct any unsatisfactory items.
Grant application and policy guidelines are available at the Community and Business Development Department in the Frederick E. Turnage Municipal Building or here.
Other available downtown incentives include the $5,000 Façade Grant, $20,000 Downtown Building Assistance Program and the Development Incentive Grant.
