The Central City Revitalization Panel (CCRP) meets to discuss improvements and preservation within the central city boundaries of the City of Rocky Mount. The CCRP is also the governing body responsible for creating and overseeing the committees necessary to implement the Downtown Rocky Mount work plan, which is updated annually.
The legislative body of the City of Rocky Mount’s Downtown Development efforts is comprised of a Chairman and a thirteen member Panel. The City Council meets on the first Thursday each month at 8:30 a.m. These meetings are held in the Committee room on the Third Floor of the Municipal Administrative Complex, in Downtown Rocky Mount.
The mission of the CCRP is to “serve the citizens and it’s Council by educating, advocating, and energizing investment in Downtown Rocky Mount”. At the convergence of transit, trains and walking trails, downtown Rocky Mount is a regional hub cultivating the synergy of education and entrepreneurial opportunity and enriched by a thriving culture of arts, entertainment, technology and scientific discovery.
Enhancing the visual quality of the downtown. Attention is given to the downtown environment elements – not just buildings and storefronts but also public improvements, rear entries, signs, landscaping, window displays and graphic materials. Activities include conducting market analysis to understand the changing market place, adapting vacant buildings that have outlived their original purposes for use as entertainment or cultural facilities and sharpening the competitiveness of Main Street’s traditional merchants.
