  • Small Business Center at Nash Community College
    The SBC offers a variety of workshops and courses to help small businesses be successful. A schedule of dates and times for upcoming seminars and workshops can be found on their website. The SBC of NCC also offers a Small Business Development Series which includes the following seminars:

    • How to Start A Business
    • How to Write a Business Plan
    • Financing a Business
    • Marketing
    • Bookkeeping and Taxes

    These seminars are free and are offered to potential and existing entrepreneurs. The SBC resource center is free and open to the public.

  • Edgecombe Community College Small Business Center
    The Small Business Center (SBC) is part of a statewide network designed to support the development and growth of small businesses. The mission is to increase the success rate and the number of viable small businesses in Edgecombe county by providing high quality, readily accessible assistance to prospective and existing small business owners.

    START. GROW. CAPITALIZE. SpringBoard NC is designed to foster and support entrepreneurship in the I-95 / Hwy 64 Region of North Carolina. Working in conjunction with various regional partners, SpringBoard NC facilitates and hosts opportunities for entrepreneurs to engage with their peers, obtain affordable business advisory services, and gain access to funding sources for their business.

Funding Resources

  • Self Help Credit Union
    Lending to individuals, small businesses and non-profits.

  • The Support Center
    The Support Center offers loans directly as well as through their affiliated credit unions with support from federal and state funding. It focuses on specific loan products that are not easily available through traditional bank services. They are currently offering two programs for small business owners: USDA Intermediary Relending Program (IRP) and NC Small Business Development Loan Program.

  • Carolina Small Business Development Fund
    Carolina Small Business is a statewide nonprofit and Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Lending to start-ups and existing businesses across the state, with emphasis on businesses that have difficulty accessing financing through traditional lending sources.

Local Networking Opportunities

  • YoPro
    The Twin Counties Young Professionals (YoPro) group was officially created in August 2015 as an outcome of the Here’s To Success Positive Image campaign. Here’s To Success is a regional marketing and communications effort for Rocky Mount and the Twin Counties area in North Carolina to improve perceptions about the region. The purpose of the YoPro group is to provide opportunities for young professionals to connect with each other and the community.
